Bernanke’s Worry Lines & CNBC’s Closing Bell

I will on CNBC’s Closing Bell today, Friday, at 4:00pm discussing the lack of any taper from the Fed, what they see that the masses don’t and where the markets are ahead. Earlier this week in Street$marts (click on link to see) and on my blog, www.investfortomorrowblog.com I spelled out the three scenarios that could result from the Fed meeting. While I did not believe any taper was warranted, the market was expecting a token $10-$15 billion. When Bernanke & Company did nothing, risk […]   Read More

Big Correction Coming?

Stocks continue to trade very heavy, but we should be on guard for a strong bounce at any time here. I think the top is in for a while so bounces are now selling opps and a better buy point should be seen after Labor Day. To reiterate what I have said for a while, this pullback should not be the beginning of a new bear market, just another healthy cleanse in an aging bull market. Here is the segment […]   Read More

Oh My! 3 Down Days in a Row!!

Should we break out the crash helmets? The market just went down three straight days! Yes, it was and is stretched, but there isn’t enough internal damage to warrant more than a routine, healthy and normal 3-8% pullback. A much larger correction is coming; it’s just not right now. If and when the major market indices close below the lows from August 7, we should see a deeper bull market pullback. Here were my comments from the interview I did […]   Read More

CNBC’s Closing Bell TODAY (Aug 5) at 4pm

I am going to be on CNBC’s Closing Bell TODAY (Aug 5) at 4pm discussing where the stock market is headed over the coming weeks and into September’s Fed meeting where the “taper” could begin. Over the past few weeks, I visited Fox Business and Yahoo Finance. Regarding the Fed, here were and are my thoughts: http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/breakout/fed-meeting-tap-investors-await-bumpy-ride-112711784.html.   Read More

Correction Coming?

Every month or so, I write an update on the market’s canaries in the coal mine to get a sense where the bull market stands. Nothing has changed on that front in that we having an aging bull market, but one that should live on through the next correction and probably into 2014. As the market builds towards the next meaningful pullback, here are a few things to watch as I briefly discussed on Fox Business. http://video.foxbusiness.com/v/2565939221001/correction-coming/   Read More

Squawk Box on Wednesday July 3 at 6:30am

I am going to be on CNBC’s Squawk Box tomorrow (Wednesday July 3) at 6:30am discussing Friday’s “much anticipated” jobs report (aren’t they all???) and my outlook for stocks. If you missed last night’s Nightly Business Report, you can find it here. http://nbr.com/2013/07/02/dont-expect-earnings-blowout-or-market-rallies-pro-says/ The only thing I forgot to mention last night when I spoke about high quality corporate bonds and floating rate was that municipal bonds have been hammered as badly as any time since Meredith Whitney’s pathetically awful call towards the end […]   Read More

And Now China

Financial markets have been hit with the double whammy. First, Bernanke described the Fed’s plan for tapering asset purchases later this year and next and overnight, China reported weaker economic data and some trouble in their banking system. The markets responded with much selling on the heels of yesterday’s sell off, taking the Dow under 15,000. The next downside target for the major stock market indices is just below their respective May lows. After that, markets are probably looking at a […]   Read More

It’s All About Big Ben

The stock market rally that began last Thursday continued into the “all important” Fed meeting on Wednesday. It seems like every Fed announcement is now hailed as the most important one ever and this one is certainly no exception. To keep everyone on their toes, Bernanke & Company changed the announcement time to 2:00pm with the press conference beginning at 2:30pm. There has been a strong tendency for the market to close higher almost 70% of the time on announcement […]   Read More

Who Turned the Lights Out?

After a nice opening by the bulls on Wednesday, the bears came out en mass to print a fairly ugly day across the board except for gold and the stocks. It looks like stocks are heading back to revisit the lows from last week which should happen in the next few days. The stock market is now as oversold as it has been at any time since the November bottom. Failure to respond positively over the coming week would be […]   Read More

Where Did the Bulls go?

I did not like the action today to begin the new week. After Thursday and Friday, the bulls needed to hold serve and not let the bears see any weakness. Monday and Tuesday saw the bears take over and that does not bode well in the short-term, even though the stock market is oversold. More caution is warranted.   Read More
